It’s great that the LGBTIQ+ Community have brave heroes like Rodney Croome who are willing to tackle homophobic based discrimination at every level. I agree with every point that he has made in this article.

Sydney centric Australia from Aust fed govt run out of kirrabilli house to ABC Ultimo studios sees Aust thru a right wing lens that is corporate n privatized. Since pandemic that myth has been debunked as the states came to the fore. There are many in the gay community who continue to be extremely unhappy with the corporate gloss that passes for gay rights that is dishonest and a travesty of the authentic truth with gay NSW. As an eg. 90 gay men lost their lives thru 2 decades with police apathy n complicity in NSW. That staggering figure would be room for a royal commission in straight society. In Toronto, Canadians refuse to allow police to march because of the 10 tragic deaths from a serial killer. Outside Australia in a commonwealth we are a part of a vast majority of states still have criminal prosecution for the crime of being gay with mostly 10 years jail time, 3 with the death penalty. This world pride is an opportunity to look at the draconian laws(it is still legal to fire a gay teacher or expel a gay student in the Aust of 2023!?)that are homegrown in the host city of Sydney as opposed to other state jurisdictions that have cracked down in inequality(in Vic the Andrews govt has the harshest punishments for churches who even pray the gay away with hefty fines n 10 years jail time) Sydney NSW? nothing with opus dei catholic Premier Perrotet tight lipped
