The office worker then explained to me that he knew his parents and that he often exhibits “attention-seeking behaviours”. Months later, I was walking home in my street and this guy approached and collapsed on the ground a bit ahead of me but I recognised him and told him not to do it. Another time, again in my street, I saw what I thought was a fight but it was some guy holding down the Seizure man. When I explained the situation, they both got up and Seizure man just said sorry and walked off. The “helper” was completely non-plussed by the experience. I’ve seen it happen another one or two times around Prahran.

However, as for the stand-up comedian, I think Seizure Man needs help rather than ridicule. To my knowledge, he’s never hurt anyone and, if we see him, just get him to stop but don’t give him a hard time. I don’t know if he is receiving any help at all. Frankly, I think a community services punishment is the wrong thing – he needs some sort of help and support, maybe a better job to help boost his self-respect or something. In our post-Kennett world, though, I’m sure he’s been “integrated” into our society with no support at all.
