Why so many from NSW?

The Victorian Pride Centre is not “Australia’s First… multi purpose LGBTQI centre”. The Sydney Pride Centre was established in the 1990’s and had its own building in Hutchinson St. in Surry Hills. It was the home and hub for serval LGBTQI community groups and resource centres, and even had It’s own community gym. The Pride Centre used to produce the Pride NYE dance parties, for 6000 people at the Showgrounds (now Fox Studios), in addition to the Pride Festival in June.
The Sydney Pride Festival picked up the banner of producing the month long festival, after The Pride Centre ran into financial problems and eventually disbanded.
The Sydney Pride Centre pre-dates the Victorian Pride Centre by nearly 30years.
