The Australian Democrats are back THIS election because we are needed NOW. Myself and Jen Mitchell are both strong advocates for Same-sex marriage. I am standing for and expecting to win this election as Australians want real leadership not more rhetoric.

Why is there the need to continually to attack without talking about what is happening right now? I will work with the greens or the majors to bring about equality.

I fought for same-sex marriage and other rights we found ourselves without when I worked with the Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby and I will continue to fight when in parliament. If your looking for more, you will not find a stronger supporter than myself and the Australian Democrats.

I hope that two lesbians are not too much for the aussies to cope with at election time.

They used to be a great force- that all fell into oblivion some time after the initially SUPPORTED the 2004 Marriage Ban, then backtracked when they realised the backlash. The Greens though never faultered in the support for equality. This week’s polls showing the Greens primary vote support has risen another point to a whopping 13%.
Maybe one day long into the future the Democrats might come back as a bigger force- but at the moment they are still stained by thier initial lack of support in stopping the 2004 Marriage Ban. Their backflip a few weeks later was then seen as too little too late in that crucial period of history- where the marriage ban was rushed through in a matter of weeks- even rushed ahead of important terrorism legislation. That terrible time of the August 13th Marriage Ban of 2004 is rehashed & remembered every year with a Nation Wide protest march in all major capital cities of Australia- this year is no different.
