I’m straight, married, a step-parent but not a biological parent and I just want to vomit all over Tony Abbott and Mat Canavan for their comments to this effect in recent days. How dare they judge and criticise my marriage. I’m furious, I can’t start to guess how infuriating these sorts of comments are for gay parents.

Gay parents are a simple reality in my family, my step-kids have a gay grandfather. Despite all the threats by the No campaign, it hasn’t harmed our family in any way and it all just proves to me that their hateful campaign is based completely on lies.
