The Primate of the Anglican Church in Australia is Dr Philip Freier the Archbishop of Melbourne, not Dr Aspinall as quoted in your article and he has made extensive comment on Wangaratta’s move.

I was raised Anglican, 12 years of schooling, attended an Anglican church of my own free will as a teenager, never really quit just wandered away at about age 20, found the church to be progressive, liberal and open minded.

What’s going on in Wangaratta seems entirely consistent with my experience. Ditto Canada 2003, ditto Father Rod Bower’s signs in front of his church and so on.

Which just prompts the question what the fuck is wrong with the Sydney Archbishop? What a hateful, loathsome individual.
