No he wasn’t. At core he was addressing irresponsibility and selfishness which, as much as campness, seems to be a biomarker of far too many gay men.

Having sat at the foot of too many deathbeds of those fucked up their lives precisely because of this, the distortion and evasion above makes me both furious and deeply depressed.

Congrats Nic, so many within the community fail to realise that’s it’s really not a black and white situation. There’s difference between reckless sex and educated informed safe practices which may or may not include condom use. We should be encouraging educated open discussion with partners and realising that for many different reasons, safe sex is not always desired or practice! Good to see articulate debate!!!

not brought up again is the issue of ‘unprotected pornography’. the way which a lot of our youth (unfortunately) are taught about sex and indeed sexuality.
Porn should be made to be using condoms or else display a prominent warning (that such sex can be dangerous because of hiv and other sti’s) before any bareback scene. Otherwise websites not doing this should be issued take down notices. Google could help with this alot.
But why is it not in this discussion?
Were not talking about a loss of liberty, as i already said in a comment on Mr.Copland’s article, people who really want to find it will be able to jump the fence. But our teenaged kids are learning unsafe practices, and to them it seems okay, because our Catholic school dont need to tell them about safe sex, theyre not even mentioned, and our porn is barebacked.
